Sedum rupestre is a low growing succulent, valued for its trailing stems and needle-like leaves, which can range from green to bluish-gray, often with yellowish or reddish tips under sun exposure or cold stress.

The leaves are frequently blue-gray to gray but can range to light greens and yellows; the flowers are yellow.

Like many Sedum species, it has a prostrate, spreading habit.

But it still requires little coddling and enjoys an independent lifestyle.

In a windowsill, in a pot or even in your garden - allow this little perennial to bring some light and texture.

👨‍🌾GARDENING TIPS👨‍🌾:

    • Perfect for rock gardens, alpine gardens, container planting, hanging baskets, or mixed succulent displays.

    • Combines beautifully with other Sedum species, Sempervivum, and Crassula for textured succulent arrangements.

    • Minimal maintenance is required, with occasional pruning to maintain shape and remove spent flower stems.

The Tales & The Botany: Sedum rupestre

This sedum is prone to fasciation (cristate forms), which can produce attractive forms, with irregular curves and strange shapes.

However it reverts easily, so all normal offshoots need to be removed quickly to maintain the cristate form!

If you have not encountered fasciation in the world of plants before, then you must at least read about it.

A starter phrase: it's a relatively rare condition of abnormal growth in which the apical meristem (growing tip), which normally is concentrated around a single point becomes elongated in the direction of the growth.

Translated into literary speech: the flowers or stems will stretch into long deformations of themselves, producing incredible and bizarre shapes. It looks like you stepped into a hall of mirrors at a circus.

Fasciation is fascinating.

-----

Reflexum vs rupestre - this is an ongoing debate that turns around the inflorescences and which way they face when the buds are produced.

However!

I've found in my Sedum journeys - both practical and literary that:

    • the fine-leaved Sedum rupestre of Dillenius later was classified as Sedum reflexum, then reclassified by Linnaeus as Sedum rupestre var. reflexum named under Linnaeus so... they are.. the same?
    • Petrosedum rupestre and Petrosedum forsterianum seem to be clearly derive from the same rupestre taxon but are systematically separated by taxonomists

It's a bit of a wacky world.

I have found this illustration to be helpful - by Juan Luis Castillo in "Flora iberica" of Castroviejo.

Petrosedum

The plant can be seen on 'green roofs' or 'green wall' systems in Korea where plants are incorporated into the structure of the building, providing habitats for wildlife and innovative insulation solution for humans.

🌸 Floral Morphology: Sedum rupestre

Sedum reflexum a low-growing, mat-forming succulent in the Crassulaceae family, with slender, needle-like, glaucous blue-green leaves arranged along trailing stems.

In summer, the plant produces small, star-shaped, yellow flowers clustered in loose inflorescences (cymes).

Flowers are actinomorphic and hermaphroditic, with five sepals and five petals, and a superior ovary.

The fleshy, water-storing leaves give the plant its resilience under drought and help maintain turgor during dry periods.

🧬 Reproductive Biology

Pollination is primarily entomophilous, attracting bees and other small insects. Sedum propagates easily through leaf cuttings or stem offsets, allowing rapid vegetative reproduction.

Seeds are produced in small capsules but vegetative propagation is far more common in cultivation.

The plant exhibits Crassulacean Acid Metabolism (CAM), opening stomata at night to conserve water while allowing photosynthesis during the day.

🦋 Ecology & Cultivation

Sedum thrive in well-drained, sandy or rocky soils under full sun, although it tolerates light shade.

It is drought-tolerant, frost-sensitive, and well-suited for rock gardens, containers, or as ground cover.

The plant is low-maintenance, requires minimal watering, and benefits from occasional pruning to remove damaged or overgrown stems.

Its vibrant leaf colors and compact growth habit make it popular for ornamental gardening and succulent collections.

Excellent wrist rest, BUT not for me
I'm rating this wrist rest 5 stars despite the fact that it's not for me. The reason that it is not for me is simple: My palms get very sweaty, and this makes my palms stick to the wrist rest, making it hard to move my hands around. This is an inherent limitation of the fact that it is made out of wood, and drove me to the 17" x 4" x 0.75" foam wrist rest from Grifiti instead. If you don't have sweaty palms, however, this wrist rest is perfect. It is 4 inches deep instead of the typical 3.1 inches, it is the perfect height and tapered just so for maximum comfort, the wood (Golden Oak color) is beautiful, and the engraved logo is tasteful and non-intrusive.

The perfect wrist rest. Stop looking, just buy this one!
Color: Onyx, Size: Tenkeyless/TKL Keyboard Wrist Rest, Color: Onyx, Size: Tenkeyless/TKL Keyboard Wrist Rest
The perfect wrist rest. I used those gel and silicone wrist rests thinking the softer they are the better. Not so. This is solid hardwood and my wrists no longer ache after a long day at the computer. The size I picked is perfect for a TKL keyboard. The angles, height, and design are optimal for a comfortable typing experience. Even 8-10 hours of typing! I love Glorious' products, they come so well packaged and attention to every detail is given. Gosh, its just a wrist rest! No, it is a tool that provides comfortable work experience.

The wood is great.
I used to use a typical padded wrist pad, but am a heavy sweater. Upon reading another review in regards to that matter I decided to take the plunge on this rest. I have been a user of the Model O mouse from Glorious for a while and liked it so I trusted the company's reputation for taking gamers' needs into consideration. After using it for about a week and playing different types of games/working from home on it, I can say that although your sweat might pool during sweaty moments, it's easy to wipe off and doesn't seem to easily absorb into the wood. The wood itself is of a nice quality, I like the oak over the onyx for a more "real wood" look. There was no difference in comfort for me, you'd think being used to a padded wrist this shift would be "hard" on me, but no, I haven't had any problems. It's ergonomics for typing are also good as I notice my WPM and consistency be higher on multiple tests. All-in-all quite satisfied with the purchase, fits the aesthetic, feel, and ergonomics I was looking for.

Very well made, matches width of Keychron Q6 perfectly, great for bigger hands!
This is a nicely finished slab of wood that is an EXACT match for my Keychron Q6 in both width and height. Depthwise, this is 4", so if you got larger hands (as I do), this is a bit better than the silicone Keychron version which I believe is 3.5" or so in depth. The non-stick feet are a nice feature, and the profile is wonderful to type on. Only issue with the item I received is a small nick right below the Glorious emblem on the lower right of the wrist rest - may have been an errant tool mark. However, this doesn't detract in my own opinion, from the well-designed profile and features of this wrist rest and was easily covered with a furniture marking pen. I'm still giving this item 5-stars and getting another one for the office!

Glorious Wooden Palm Rest Durability and Stability in an Elegant Design
Color: Onyx, Size: Mouse Wrist Rest, Color: Onyx, Size: Mouse Wrist Rest
After years of using foam palm rests, I always encountered the same problem: they deformed over time, losing height, ergonomics and, consequently, their usefulness. This is especially critical when you spend between 3 and 8 hours a day at the PC for work, study or gaming, since a bad posture can increase the risk of suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome. This is where Glorious' wooden palm rests come in, a solution that eliminates deformations and offers an ideal height for both the mouse version and the TKL (Tenkeyless) version. Positive points • Solid and durable construction: Unlike foam, wood maintains its shape and provides stable support over time. • Elegant and minimalist design: Its finish gives a premium touch to any setup. • Effective non-slip base: The bottom rubbers prevent unwanted movements, providing total stability. • Easy maintenance: Although wood is slightly porous and can retain natural oils or residue from creams and perfumes, cleaning it is easy. Areas for improvement • Less softness than foam: Although still comfortable, wood sacrifices some of the cushioned feel that some prefer. A redesign with a foam strip on top could improve this. • Inconsistent finish between versions: I bought the mouse rest and the TKL at the same time, but noticed that the color tones were different (one blacker than the other). It doesn't affect functionality, but it does affect aesthetics. If you're looking for durability, stability, and a sophisticated design, this is a highly recommended palm rest, especially if you find it on sale. Although it's not as soft as the foam ones, it does its job of providing ergonomic support exceptionally well. An excellent complement for those who spend long hours at the PC and are looking for a sturdier alternative to traditional palm rests.
